FAQ
Everything you need to know about buying and importing Japanese vehicles through JapanCarNet.
How do I buy a car through JapanCarNet?
Buying through JapanCarNet is straightforward. Browse our live inventory, find a vehicle you like, and submit an enquiry. Our team will contact you directly to confirm the vehicle details, your destination port, and payment terms. Once confirmed, we purchase the vehicle from Japan's auction network on your behalf. It can typically be done within one week, then we manage the full export and shipping process to your port. For a detailed step-by-step walkthrough, read our Complete 2026 Guide to Buying Japanese Cars from Japan.
Can I request a specific vehicle that isn't listed on the site?
Yes. If you don't see what you need listed, use our Request Stock form: choose car or machinery, enter the brand, and describe what you want. We source from Japan's auction and supplier network and can notify you when a suitable unit is available.
How long does the entire process take from enquiry to delivery?
From the moment you confirm your order, the typical timeline is as follows: vehicle procurement from auction takes approximately one week. Export documentation, deregistration and port preparation take a further one to two weeks. Ocean freight transit time varies by destination, typically 3 to 5 weeks to the UAE or East Africa, and 4 to 6 weeks to South Asia. In total, most buyers receive their vehicle within 6 to 10 weeks of confirming their order.
What do the auction grades like 4.5 or Grade S mean?
Auction grades are assigned by independent third-party inspectors at Japan's auction houses. They are not our opinion. The grading scale runs from 1 (poor condition) up to S (showroom perfect/effectively new). A grade of 4 or 4.5 indicates a vehicle in very good condition with only minor cosmetic marks. The letter suffix (A, B, C) refers to the interior condition specifically. For a full breakdown of every grade and what it means for your purchase, read our detailed guide: Japanese Car Auction Grades Explained: What Do the Numbers Really Mean.
Are the mileage and condition details on listings accurate?
Yes. All vehicle details, including mileage, condition notes, and auction grade, are taken directly from the official Japanese auction inspection sheet issued by the auction house. Mileage tampering is taken extremely seriously in Japan's automotive market and auction inspectors are trained to flag any inconsistencies. Every listing on JapanCarNet reflects the unbiased certified inspection data and not our own assessment.
Do the vehicles come with a warranty?
Many of our newer listings (2024–2026 models) are sold with the original Japanese manufacturer warranty booklet still present and valid. This is noted in individual vehicle listings where applicable. We always indicate when warranty documentation, service history, or spare keys are included. For older vehicles, we recommend buyers factor in a local mechanical inspection upon arrival as standard practice.
Which countries do you ship to?
We regularly ship to destinations across the UAE and Gulf region, East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda), West Africa (Nigeria, Ghana), South Asia (Bangladesh, Pakistan) and beyond. If you're unsure whether we serve your destination, simply contact us at info@japancarnet.com and we'll confirm availability and provide a freight estimate to your nearest port.
What does the listed price include? Are there extra costs?
Our listed prices are export prices in USD and include the vehicle cost, auction fees, inland transport to the Japanese port, and export documentation. Ocean freight to your destination port is calculated separately based on your location and quoted transparently before you commit. Import duties, local taxes, and customs clearance fees at your destination are the buyer's responsibility and vary by country. For a full breakdown of what to expect, see our Ultimate Guide to Importing Used Cars from Japan (2026).
How is my vehicle shipped — RoRo or container?
We primarily ship via RoRo (Roll-on Roll-off) vessels, which is the most common and cost-effective method for vehicle export from Japan. Container shipping is available on request for buyers who prefer enclosed transit, particularly for high-value or low-clearance vehicles. Our freight team will advise the best option for your specific vehicle and destination. Learn more in our Ultimate Import Guide.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept international bank transfers (T/T — Telegraphic Transfer) in USD. This is the standard and most secure method for international vehicle purchases. Full payment details and our bank information are provided after you confirm your order. We do not accept cryptocurrency or third-party payment platforms at this time. If you have questions about payment, contact us directly at info@japancarnet.com.
Do I need to pay the full amount upfront?
Payment terms are discussed and agreed upon at the time of order confirmation. Typically, a deposit is required to secure the vehicle and initiate the procurement process, with the balance due before the vehicle is loaded for shipping. Our team will walk you through the payment schedule clearly — there are no hidden charges or surprise fees at any stage.
Is it safe to buy a car internationally through JapanCarNet?
Yes. JapanCarNet is operated by Amintradingco, a company with over 30 years of experience in international automotive trade, and vehicles are exported under RYVENA, our fully registered Japanese export company. Every vehicle is independently graded, every shipment is handled by licensed freight partners, and all export documentation is prepared professionally.
